International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
This year, we marked the occasion with a special ‘sip and paint’ activity at our head office in Luton, bringing together female team members of our team for a day of creativity.
The event was attended by Jackie, Ellen, Sumayyah, Maryam, Bano, and Mahfuza who had the opportunity to unwind, embrace their creative skills, and spend quality time together.
Activities like this are a key part of how we work together at #teamAegis. It is about having fun and fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture and celebrating and empowering our female colleagues.
International Women’s Day is also a time to reflect on the incredible achievements, strength, and resilience of women around the world. Women have been breaking barriers in various fields, from science and technology to arts and politics. They lead communities, inspire future generations, and contribute significantly to the progress of society.
This year’s International Women’s Day revolves around the theme “Accelerate Action”. This theme emphasises the urgent need to speed up progress towards gender equality – at the current rate, it could take until 2158 to achieve full gender parity. The theme calls for swift and decisive steps to address systemic barriers and biases that women face in both personal and professional spheres.
